Quote of the Day: Madonna on Tonight’s Episode of Glee

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX,

Glee on cover of TV Guide

“I thought the Madonna episode of was brilliant on every level. The dialogue and the entire script was genius. I completely appreciated the layers of irony, especially when all those macho boys sang ‘What It Feels Like For A Girl.’ I also loved the fantastic performances of ‘Vogue,’ ‘Express Yourself’ and all the messages about the boys being respectful to girls. The entire cast was amazing. They’re all so talented. I especially loved Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) and Kurt Hummel’s (Chris Colfer) characters. [Show creator] Ryan Murphy did a great job bringing all these elements together. [Daughter] Lola loved the show too. I wish I went to a high school like that…If only.”

- commenting on the the Glee episode featuring her music. (“The Power of Madonna” airs tonight @ 9:00.)

Quote of the Day: Spartacus Producer on the Show’s Sexual Content

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Drama, Prime Time, Cable,

Spartacus: Blood and Sand

“The only organized group was some media watchdog group trying to ban us from coming to England. Typical far-right religious stuff—the decay of society, blah blah blah. I was shocked at some of the reactions. Particularly calling it pornographic or soft core. Apparently the sexual revolution is dead or long forgotten. It deeply concerns me about the sex life of Americans if they think this is soft core. It’s like they haven’t been on the Internet in the past 10 years. It’s absolutely R-rated, but it’s just R-rated. I was stunned and shocked about the overzealous reaction to people having sex on TV. Somebody called it the most graphic sex ever on TV. Didn’t anybody see on HBO?”

-Executive producer Steven S. DeKnight commenting on the criticism of ‘s explicit sexual content.

Quote of the Day: Chloe Sevigny on Big Love’s Awful Season

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Cable, HBO, Gossip,

Big Love

UPDATE: You can read Sevigny’s apology for her comments here.

“It was awful this season, as far as I’m concerned. I’m not allowed to say that! [Gasps.] It was very telenovela. I feel like it kind of got away from itself. The whole political campaign seemed to me very farfetched. I mean, I love the show, I love my character, I love the writing, but I felt like they were really pushing it this last season. And with nine episodes, I think they were just squishing too much in. HBO only gave us nine Sundays, because they have so much other original programming—especially with The Pacific—and they only have a certain amount of Sundays per year, so we only got nine Sundays. I think that they had more story than episodes. I think that’s what happened… Me and the girls [ and Ginnifer Goodwin] definitely were not very happy with where it was going—or more kind of, ‘We really hope it’s going to work. It seems like they’re really pushing it.’ I think next season, they’re going to go back to more just the family. I think that the stuff with Ben and Lois and that stuff was really great in Mexico, but… [Laughs.]”

-Golden Globe winner Chloe Sevigny (Nicolette Grant) agreeing with criticism of ‘s fourth season.

Quote of the Day: Nigel Lythgoe No Longer Wants Paula Abdul’s Help

Paula Abdul and Nigel Lythgoe

“No. I spent an entire season wooing her and if she was ever going to do it, she would have. The timing was perfect for her and I was rather shocked she didn’t pick up and join us at any point. I mean, Katie Holmes was there, Jennifer Lopez was there. I know we don’t have Idol money and so does Paula, but at the end of the day I do plenty of things for no money because I want to support dance. And as an dancer/performer/choreographer, I would have thought she’d like to support us.”

-Former American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe claiming he won’t continue pursuing for So You Think You Can Dance.
